Position Summary

Newton Country Day School seeks a dynamic, mission-aligned Sports Performance Coach to support the development of student-athletes through wellness programming, strength and conditioning, and fitness instruction. This role will lead varsity team training sessions, contribute to athletes’ physical and mental fortitude, and collaborate with coaches and the Health & Wellness team to build courage, confidence, and resilience through sport.

Location: Newton Country Day School, Newton, MA
Schedule: By the school sports seasons (late August through mid-May), weekday afternoons from 3:00-6:00, with some flexibility
Stipend: $4,000-7,000 per season (fall-winter-spring)

Key Responsibilities

• Design and lead sport-specific, data-driven strength and conditioning sessions for varsity teams.
• Support and facilitate resiliency programming focused on confidence, focus, and stress.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment for students of all experience levels.
• Partner with coaches and the Health & Wellness team to integrate mindset training and self-reflection into competitive environments.
• Teach and support after-school fitness classes.
• Communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, and school leadership.
• Serve as an active, positive presence during after-school athletics hours.
• Uphold and model the values of Sacred Heart education and the NCDS athletics philosophy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in kinesiology, exercise science, sports psychology, or related field.
• Experience working with adolescent athletes in a school or team setting.
• Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles and athlete development.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• CPR/First Aid and SafeSport certification (or willingness to obtain).
• CORI background check and fingerprinting required.
