Middle School Basketball Coach

Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Girls Basketball Coach to join our athletics department. The coach will be responsible for fostering a positive, encouraging, and competitive environment for student-athletes to develop basketball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This position requires effective communication with players, parents, and school administration, as well as a commitment to the academic and personal development of all student-athletes.
The school is building a new Athletic & Wellness Center so we are looking for someone who would be excited by the opportunity to build a new program. This position is parttime/seasonal, but could be fulltime if candidate has other skills/abilities needed by the school at this time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices that promote the development of individual and team skills.
- Teach the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and court strategy.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, effort, and personal development.
- Supervise and manage team activities during practices, games, and tournaments.
- Create and implement game strategies to enhance team performance and competitiveness.
- Support the recruitment efforts of new players.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and games.
- Maintain communication with parents, administrators, and other coaches.
- Coordinate with the athletic director regarding scheduling, equipment needs, and transportation for games.
- Promote the values of teamwork, discipline, and respect both on and off the court.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience coaching basketball at the middle school, high school, or youth level.
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- The ability to drive a 14-passenger van and a clean driving record.
- Background check required.
