Position: JV Basketball Assistant Coach
Location: Newton Country Day School, Newton, MA
Season: Winter 2025-2026 (November– mid-February)
Stipend: $2,800-3,800

Position Summary
Newton Country Day School seeks a passionate and organized JV Basketball Assistant Coach to support the team during the winter 2025–2026 season. The coach will be responsible for helping plan practices, develop players, and build a competitive, inclusive team culture that reflects the mission of Sacred Heart education and Falcon Athletics.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the head coach in planning and leading JV basketball practices and games, with emphasis on fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Mentor student-athletes of varying skill levels, encouraging courage and confidence, discipline, and growth.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and the Athletics Department as appropriate.
• Demonstrate willingness and ability to drive school vehicles for practices and competitions.
• Uphold and model the values of Sacred Heart education and the mission of Falcon Athletics, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes.
• Complete other related duties as requested by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience playing or coaching basketball (high school or collegiate level preferred).
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• CPR/First Aid and SafeSport certifications (or willingness to complete prior to the season).
• CORI background check and fingerprinting required.
