Position: Middle School Basketball Coach
Location: Newton Country Day School, Newton, MA
Season: Winter 2026-2027 (November– mid-February)
Stipend: $1,500-2,500

Position Summary
Newton Country Day School seeks a passionate and encouraging coach to work one of our Middle School Basketball teams over the 2026-2027 winter season. The ideal candidate will focus on teaching fundamentals, building confidence, and inspiring joy in the sport within a supportive, mission-driven environment. This role emphasizes player development, team spirit, and fostering a love for basketball while aligning with the values of Sacred Heart education and Falcon Athletics.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead or support middle school basketball practices and games, emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Teach basketball fundamentals and game concepts in a structured, age-appropriate way.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and the Athletics Department.
• Demonstrate a willingness and ability to drive school vehicles for practices and competitions.
• Uphold and model the values of Sacred Heart education and the mission of Falcon Athletics, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes.
• Complete other related duties as requested by the Director of Athletics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Playing or coaching experience in basketball (youth, high school, or higher).
• A passion for developing young women through sport.
• Enthusiasm for working with middle school student-athletes.
• CPR/First Aid and SafeSport certifications (or willingness to complete prior to the season).
• CORI background check and fingerprinting required.
