Elementary School Nurse

Mount Alvernia Academy, a Franciscan Catholic elementary school, is seeking an experienced and dedicated School Nurse for the academic year. In alignment with the mission of Mount Alvernia Academy and the Archdiocese of Boston, the School Nurse is responsible for developing and maintaining school health policies and programs that support student well-being.
The primary role of the School Nurse is to promote health education and provide preventative health services that foster the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of students. The nurse collaborates closely with faculty, staff, families, and healthcare providers to ensure a safe and supportive school environment.
Position Details:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- Hours: From student arrival (7:30 a.m.) through dismissal (3:00 p.m.)
- Reports directly to the Principal
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education School Nurse licensure
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- Minimum of two years’ experience in school nursing, pediatric nursing, public/community health, or related clinical setting
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a school community
- Proficiency with technology
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to kneel, stoop, bend, and crouch
- Periods of standing, walking, and sitting
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs
Additional Expectations:
Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is essential to effectively support student health and safety.
Salary: The expected annual salary for this position is $63,000-$83,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This range is a good faith estimate and may be adjusted based on individual qualifications, skills, and experience.
