Lincoln School, founded in 1884, is an independent Early Childhood-Grade 12 Quaker school for girls in Providence, Rhode Island. opportunities and responsibilities of full citizenship in a complex world. We are currently seeking applicants for a part-time Long-term Substitute Spanish Teacher beginning August 17 through December 18, 2026 (possible extension through Spring Semester 2026–2027).
Summary
Lincoln School is seeking a warm, engaging, and collaborative Spanish teacher to join our Middle and Upper School community as a part-time long-term substitute. This position includes 3 classes: one Grade 8 section (Spanish 1B) and two Upper School sections (Spanish 1 and either Spanish 3 or 3 Honors), working with students ages 13–17. We are looking for an educator who inspires curiosity about the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures and who values student voice, oral proficiency, and meaningful connection in the classroom.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Teach three sections (8–12 students per class) on a 7-day rotating schedule, meeting 3–4 times per week.
● Implement existing curriculum in collaboration with the World Languages department.
● Create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that encourages risk-taking and language growth.
● Provide feedback and communicate student progress, including writing formal Quarter 1 report cards with narrative comments.
● Hold office hours (11:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.), ideally once per week.
Qualifications:
● Fluency in Spanish (oral and written)
● Teaching or instructional experience in a structured classroom setting
● Ability to support both academic and social-emotional development of adolescents
● Comfort with educational technology (Google Classroom, digital textbooks, online gradebooks, language-learning platforms)
● Strong organizational skills and flexibility with scheduling
● Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or related field preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not supervise any other employees at Lincoln School.
