The Williston Northampton School is an independent co-educational boarding and day school in Easthampton Massachusetts and is a culturally diverse educational community serving grades 7-12. We are seeking to hire a full-time Music Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This position is responsible for teaching three or four daytime sections of music courses, to include some combinations of AP Music Theory, Honors Chambers singers, middle school music, and upper school music electives. The position also includes involvement with our afternoon athletics or arts extracurricular activities, one season of which will be the Winter Musical, as well as student advising. As fits the experience of the candidate, the Music Teacher will run Teller Chorus (our community chorus) and Instrumental Ensemble – with both groups meeting once per week in the evening and performing concerts once per trimester. Living on campus and working in the school’s residential life program may also be an option with this position. Driving a school minibus is an expectation of this position.

Williston seeks a candidate with a creative vision to energize and build a program, while embracing the many backgrounds of Williston’s students who come from around the world and the country. The Music Teacher is responsible for creating and updating plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum. Strong candidates will have middle or high school teaching experience, preferably within an independent boarding school environment, and possess a Bachelor’s in a relevant field. They will also display both a passion for music and an enthusiasm for working with teenagers, coupled with the creative vision to energize and build a program, while embracing the many backgrounds of Williston’s students who come from around the world and the country. Williston seeks candidates who demonstrate a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities, have experience integrating educational technologies into the teaching environment, and have strong writing and communication skills, creativity, and a collaborative mindset. Candidates must possess the flexibility, energy, commitment to teamwork, and appreciation for adolescents that life in an independent school boarding community requires.

Candidates must also hold a valid driver’s license.
