Quest Montessori School is seeking a creative, engaging Part-Time Middle School Math Instructor to join our Montessori Adolescent Program. This is not a traditional math position. We are looking for someone who can help students connect math to real life through hands-on, meaningful experiences both in and out of the classroom.

The ideal candidate will teach middle school math while integrating practical, experiential work such as building projects, campus improvement, greenhouse work, and the student-run micro-business. Students should see math as something that is built, measured, budgeted, repaired, created, and lived.

Responsibilities

• Teach engaging middle school math lessons
• Connect math concepts to hands-on, real-world experiences
• Integrate math into Community Work, including practical work, building and repair projects, greenhouse and environmental work
• Support Production & Exchange through student-run micro-business projects involving budgeting, pricing, planning, and financial tracking
• Collaborate with the Adolescent Program team to support interdisciplinary learning
• Foster independence, responsibility, collaboration, and problem-solving in alignment with Montessori philosophy

Qualifications

• Strong math background and comfort teaching middle school students
• Ability to make math active, engaging, and relevant
• Interest in project-based, experiential learning
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
• Flexible, collaborative, and organized

Montessori training or certification is not required, though an appreciation for Montessori philosophy and adolescent development is important.

Schedule & Compensation

This is a part-time salaried position with some flexibility in scheduling. Hours will align with the middle school schedule and can be established collaboratively. Some parts of the year are more consistent, while others require additional time for projects, events and trips. Compensation will reflect the unique and seasonal nature of the role.
