St. Michael’s Country Day School is an independent school in Newport, RI serving students in toddler (2 year olds) through grade eight. St. Michael’s Country Day School exists to develop courageous learners and caring citizens who are world ready.

We are actively seeking experienced teachers for potential openings within the Lower School (grades K-4). Candidates must have a good understanding of the social, emotional and developmental needs of children they will be working with, and a passion for teaching that age group.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

• an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues;
• strong verbal and written communication skills;
• an understanding of, appreciation for, and commitment to 21st century learning skills;
• an aptitude and commitment to technology.

Knowledge of the science of reading, Fundations, Responsive Classroom practices, project based learning, and Singapore math, as well as, a masters degree is preferable. St. Michael’s values and supports reflective teaching practices, on-going professional development, and teachers who see themselves as lifelong learners.
