Lexington Montessori School is seeking a reliable, motivated, and hands-on Part-Time Facilities Maintenance Person to assist the Director of Facilities in maintaining the school’s buildings and campus. This position plays an important role in ensuring that our facilities remain safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for students, faculty, staff, and families.

Position Responsibilities

The Facilities Maintenance Person will assist with the daily operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the school’s buildings and grounds. Responsibilities include:

• Perform general building maintenance, including light electrical, painting, carpentry, and minor repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks throughout the campus.
• Process and complete maintenance work orders.
• Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc. by moving furniture, trash receptacle and other equipment.
• Perform light snow removal and seasonal grounds maintenance as needed.
• Safely use ladders and lifts to complete maintenance assignments.
• Identify maintenance concerns and potential safety hazards before they become larger issues.
• Work closely with the Director of Facilities to support the day-to-day operations of the campus.
• Interact professionally and courteously with students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors.

Equipment Used

The Facilities Maintenance Person should be comfortable operating a variety of maintenance and grounds equipment, including, but not limited to the following:

• Basic cleaning and sanitizing equipment
• Brooms, mops, shovels, rakes, and other hand tools
• Paint brushes, rollers, and painting equipment
• Snow blowers
• Step and extension ladders
• String trimmers, lawn mowers, and leaf blowers
• Furniture dollies
• Miscellaneous power tools
• Kubota Tractor
• Genie lift
• Personal Cell phone

Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience

• High school diploma, trade school diploma, or equivalent preferred
• Previous building maintenance experience preferred
• Five years of building maintenance experience is preferred
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems
• Basic computer skills
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license required
• Successful completion of CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and Massachusetts fingerprinting requirements

• Comfortable working on ladders up to 20 feet above the ground.

Schedule

Part-Time (12 months)
Approximately 20–25 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Work schedule to be determined based on school and facility needs.
