Position Overview:
The English Language Arts teacher will work across multiple grade levels, providing instruction that supports students at different stages of their literacy development. This role requires flexibility, creativity, and a strong commitment to collaboration. The teacher will play an important role in shaping and refining curriculum, ensuring that students experience engaging, challenging, and developmentally appropriate learning throughout their time at the school.
Responsibilities:
The ELA teacher will design and deliver instruction that builds strong reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills. They will adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners while maintaining high academic expectations. In addition to classroom teaching, the teacher will work closely with other ELA faculty to align curriculum across grades, creating a coherent progression of skills and content. This includes developing new units, refining existing materials, and contributing ideas that enhance student engagement and learning.
The teacher will regularly assess student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback that supports growth. They will participate in collaborative planning, faculty meetings, and professional development, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement. As part of a growing school, the teacher will also bring a willingness to be flexible and responsive as programs and structures evolve.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English or a related field, along with experience teaching ELA at the upper elementary/middle school. A deep understanding of literacy instruction and a genuine enthusiasm for literature and writing are essential. The candidate should be comfortable working across grade levels and skilled at adjusting instruction to meet a range of student needs.
Equally important is the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
