Grade 1 Co-Teacher (Full Time, beginning August 2026)

Teachers in the early childhood grades at Atrium work in multi-teacher teams and actively create innovative curriculum. We seek candidates with strong early childhood pedagogy in a classroom where social/emotional learning, collaboration, and kindness are prized. Atrium’s program and school culture cultivate inclusion and an active sense of social and environmental justice. Throughout the year, co-teachers work closely together to develop integrated thematic study that focuses all aspects of children’s education at Atrium into a central idea, often in collaboration with the first-grade team and students.

Qualifications:
-Possess the spirit and qualities of innovation, reflection, initiative, collaboration, and kindness
-Bachelor’s degree required, dual licensure or master’s degree preferred, and a minimum of three years of experience teaching elementary-aged students
-Excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, parents & guardians, and the greater community
-Experience and capacity in teaching diverse, multicultural perspectives
-Strong ability to problem solve, and work both independently and collaboratively
-Genuine understanding of elementary school students’ emotional, physical, cognitive, and intellectual development

Responsibilities:
-Develop students’ skills and confidence through meaningful learning experiences that support critical thinking and problem-solving skills across academic areas, including project-based learning
-Develop a nurturing classroom environment to support students’ interpersonal and social-emotional growth
-Design, refine, refresh, and implement first grade curriculum following Atrium benchmarks; assess student work using multiple strategies
-Co-plan and co-teach in a variety of modalities to support learning objectives across multiple grades
-Write individualized student progress reports twice a year
-Conduct parent/guardian conferences, and regularly communicate with families about curriculum and student progress
