Director of Education
Willow Hill School is hiring a Director of Education for the School Year 2026-2027, with a start date of July 1, 2026.
Founded in 1970, Willow Hill School provides a supportive and individualized educational program for middle and high school students who are capable of advancing along a strong academic curriculum but have experienced frustration in earlier school settings. Located in Sudbury, MA our school consists of students in grades 6 through 12.
In collaboration with the Head of School, Director of Student Services, Director of Admissions, Faculty & Staff, the Director of Education oversees the academic support structure for students and communicates frequently with families, the School Counselor, Administration, Teachers, and Staff.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a positive working and educational environment that supports the School’s mission
- To provide school-wide leadership for instructional quality, curriculum coherence and assessment across classes
- In collaboration with Department Heads and Teachers, to ensure coherence and progression across academic classes
- Oversee academic structures including schedules, credits, academic policies, and graduation requirements
- Provide instructional standards, curriculum quality, and expectations for effective teaching across academic programs and electives
- Provide teacher and classroom observations and evaluations
- Act as the primary point of contact for students and families for curriculum related questions
- Collaborate with Administration to ensure systems are transparent, fair, and effective in fostering faculty professional growth
- Support day to day educational program issues, such as attendance and substitutes
- Act as an Advisor to a small number of students
- Attend all staff meetings, department meetings, professional development days, orientation, pre IEP’s, and other appropriate meetings as they arise
- Other duties, as assigned
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- 5+ years’ experience working with students with varied learning needs, preferably as an Administrator
- 5+ years’ experience writing and communicating with families
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and professionally with teachers, staff, administration, students and parents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and ability to work with others
- Alignment with Willow Hill School’s mission statement and student body
