Development Assistant

The Development Assistant is an integral part of the development team who assists the Head of School, Chief Development Officer, and the development team in achieving Community Prep’s fundraising goals. This position also oversees Alumni Engagement initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the development office, and head of school in daily administrative tasks.
- Assists in planning and implementing fundraising strategies.
- Works with the development office team to manage logistics for all fundraising events; coordinates schedules, meetings, resources, equipment, information, etc.
- Works with the development office to create and present deliverables.
- Works with Marketing and Communications Officer on marketing efforts including social media, event materials, invitations, e-marketing, etc.
- Works with the development team in creating annual event budgets, and tracking event revenue.
- Recruits, trains, and manages event volunteers.
- Solicits in-kind donations for auctions and raffles.
- Alumni Engagement
- Responsible for creating an alumni engagement strategy: planning, and implementation of programs that engage alumni with one another, students, and with the CP community.
- Charged with motivating alumni to be involved by encouraging and cultivating philanthropic support, volunteering, and mentoring.
- Staff liaison to Alumni Relations Committee (Board Committee)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a Development Assistant or similar role.
- Previous experience with event planning.
- Proficient with technology, especially: Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel, Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, social media, e-marketing, Google Suite, website management, etc.
- Previous experience in an educational or other non-profit organization (preferred).
- Strong communication skills: Ability to convey ideas clearly and persuasively in both written and verbal forms.
- Teamwork and collaboration: Works effectively with others, contributing to team goals, and being open to feedback. This includes being supportive and cooperative in a team setting.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Self-motivated and the ability to manage responsibilities independently.
- Highly organized with an eye for detail.
- Bilingual Spanish/English (preferred).
