Athletics Fellowship

Position Overview
This position, with a start date of August 15, 2026, will join an athletics team committed to the whole student-athlete. This fellowship will enable you to learn about the breadth of the independent boarding school world, with a focus on coaching and athletics, as well as the overall student experience. Kents Hill is looking for an individual who is excited to immerse themselves in the boarding school world and develop their skills both on and off the field.
This full-time position will lead three teams as the head or assistant coach, in their sports of expertise, actively participate in the residential life program, partner with a seasoned advisor to learn from and support an advisory group, and support the curricular, academic and/or residential life of the school.
Ideal coaching experience:
Fall: Soccer
Field Hockey
Winter: Ice Hockey (Associate Head Boys’ or Girls’)
Snowsports (Recreational Ski/Snowboard, Freestyle Ski/Snowboard)
Basketball (Boys’ or Girls’)
Spring: Lacrosse (Boys’)
Tennis
The ideal candidate will be:
- able to create a positive and inclusive team culture by developing and articulating clear expectations and guidelines to players.
- skilled at some level of playing or coaching experience to support a team in each of our three athletic seasons.
- an experienced athlete with a passion for coaching at the high school level.
- confident in their coaching philosophy and possess an understanding of best practices respective to the sport.
- committed to the entire student experience and want to engage with students both on and off the field. Typically, this includes:
- Living in a dorm faculty residence and participating in all aspects of dorm life.
- Supporting the Student Life Team to plan exciting and engaging residential and other programming for the student body.
- Teach class(es) if academic expertise aligns with school needs
- able to safely transport students for athletic events and school activities, requiring a valid US driver’s license and clear driving record.
