Position Summary
Nobles seeks a full-time, 10-month, staff position athletic trainer to administer services within a secondary school community setting under the supervision of an orthopedic physician, director of sports medicine, and school nurse.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Services and skills include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assess, evaluate, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to:
- Evaluate athlete injuries and produce referrals to affiliate providers.
- Develop corresponding treatment and exercise plans within the scope of practice.
- Document patient evaluation, progress notes, and treatment per professional and regulatory standards.
- Manage cases of injured athletes/clients undergoing rehabilitation for non-surgical and surgical repair of injuries.
- Implement individualized therapeutic interventions and monitor responses to therapy to ensure client safety.
- Conduct concussion management and annual baseline screening.
- Communicate daily with school nurses and coaches regarding the status of injured patients.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and independent decision-making regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decisions per state licensure guidelines.
- Lead patient education and maintain strong communication with parents/guardians, coaches, and administration.
- Develop injury prevention programs and implement prehabilitation/injury prevention.
- Cover games and practices
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited university athletic training program
- Required certifications:
- Athletic Trainer licensure in the state of Massachusetts
- Certification or registration from the state
- Current Board of Certification certificate and NPI number
- Emergency Cardiac Care certification
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers
- Strong written/verbal communication, as well as strong interpersonal skills, to effectively communicate with coaches, parents/guardians, and administrators
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 80 pounds and working outdoors in all elements
