Assistant Athletic Trainer
Groton School is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to provide evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for student injuries and immediate emergency care during athletic practices and competitions.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report to and work closely with the Director of Sports Medicine in enforcing departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assisting the Director of Sports Medicine with planning, organizing, directing, and executing programs associated injury prevention
- Providing education and serving as a resource for the Groton community on injury/illness prevention and wellness
- Assisting with fitting of protective athletic gear
- Providing respectful communication, within limits of confidentiality, on students’ health matters to coaches, parents, health care providers, and school administrators, as needed
- Maintaining complete and accurate records of athletic training services provided and pertinent medical data
- Helping students safely return to physical activity after a concussion
- Helping to maintain the athletic training room
- Scheduling and transporting students to orthopedic appointments in collaboration with the Health Center
- Collaborating with the School’s Wellness Program Manager as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine or related field
- NATA-BOC certification and MA state license or the ability to obtain prior to hiring
- CPR/AED certification
- Experience working in independent schools or with adolescents in an educational setting is preferred
