Summer at Rocky Hill offers children entering nursery through grade 12 a summer of exploration, creativity, and community on our 84-acre waterfront campus along Narragansett Bay. Our specialists play a central role in shaping the daily camp experience, bringing depth and expertise to programming that runs throughout the entire summer season.

Position Summary

Rocky Hill Country Day School is seeking an Art Specialist to plan and lead creative arts activities for day campers ages 4 through 11 for the full duration of Summer at Rocky Hill. This person will run fun, engaging projects in the art rooms and outdoors on our waterfront campus grounds. The right candidate has a talent for inspiring young children through hands-on creative work and thrives in an active, playful environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and lead hands-on art projects and activities for day campers, adapting content for ages 4 through 11.

Use both the art rooms and the outdoor campus grounds as creative spaces throughout the summer.

Prepare all materials, supplies, and spaces in advance of each session.

Collaborate with the camp leadership team and fellow specialists to contribute to the broader camp experience.

Create an environment that is inclusive, encouraging, and safe for every camper.

Manage groups with warmth and clear expectations, fostering both independence and teamwork.

Follow all health, safety, and supervision protocols established by Rocky Hill Country Day School.

Qualifications

Experience working with children in an educational or camp setting, particularly in the elementary age range.

A background or demonstrated interest in visual arts, art education, or a related field.

Comfort working both indoors and outdoors and the flexibility to adapt activities to different settings and conditions.

Ability to plan and lead activities independently while contributing to a collaborative team.

Strong communication and group management skills.

A genuine enthusiasm for art and for sharing that enthusiasm with young children.

Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to start date.

Compensation

This is a seasonal position with compensation based on experience. Details will be shared during the interview process.
