Sustain Joy – BIPOC Educators Social

on-site

Emma Willard School
285 Pawling Ave, Troy, NY

The Office of Equity & Inclusion at Emma Willard School is continuing Sustain Joy BIPOC Educators Social for the 2026-2027 school year. Sustain Joy is a gathering of social series created for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) educators and professionals who work with children, adolescents, and young adults. After a wonderful first year of bringing educators together from a variety of schools, organizations, and roles, we’re looking forward to continuing to build this growing community of connection, support, and joy.

Our first social, themed Back to School, will take place on Friday, August 28, from 5:00-8:00 pm. New this year, we’ll begin the evening with an optional workshop from 5:00-6:00 p.m. focused on strategic planning for a successful school year and burnout prevention. The Back-to-School Social will follow from 6:00-8:00 p.m., offering time to reconnect with returning participants, welcome new educators, and build meaningful relationships. You may RSVP here by August 14th or by scanning the QR code on the attached flyer.

Please see the attached flyer for additional details about this year’s series. We would greatly appreciate you sharing it with BIPOC adults within your school or professional network.

Looking ahead, please save the date for the remaining two socials:

Friday, December 11, 2026 | 5:00–8:00 p.m.
Theme: Mid-Year Check-In
A space to reflect, reconnect, and support one another as we navigate the middle of the academic year.

Friday, April 30, 2027 | 5:00–8:00 p.m.
Theme: Celebrating the Journey
A chance to gather, reflect on the year, celebrate accomplishments, and close the year in community before the final stretch.

Thank you for helping us continue to grow this community. We look forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces for another year of connection, belonging, and joy.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
