Complex Learners Conference
The Wolf School
215 Ferris Ave, The Wolf School, Rumford, Rhode Island
During this engaging half-day conference, parents, educators, and therapists will hear from expert professionals during our keynote address and 4 immersive breakout sessions. In our breakout sessions, attendees will get to explore how to adapt and build lessons across disciplines. Each participant will attend all four engaging and immersive breakout sessions and walk away with applicable strategies to use both at school and home.
While focused on GLP learners, this conference will offer applicable strategies and practical takeaways for all processing styles to make language accessible for every student.
What is Gestalt Language Processing?
These students may:
- Be Complex Learners
- Learn language through repeating quotes and scenes from movies and TV
- Answer questions with familiar phrases from media
- Have difficulty with reading and listening comprehension
- Have a sing-song quality or be a great impressionist – might sound exactly like a character or have a character’s accent
- Have amazing musical ability or rhythm
- Learn through strings of language (instead of saying “I’m having fun!”, they might say a happy quote from a favorite Disney movie)
GLP learners need information presented in a different manner in order to understand. These students benefit from an immersive and experiential experience.
