Dedham Country Day School (DCD) seeks well-qualified substitute teachers to engage with our robust Pre-Kindergarten to grade 8 community for the 2026-27 school year. This role provides classroom coverage for planned faculty absences as well as late-notification situations. This is an hourly position reporting to the Chief of Staff; the pay rate is $23 per hour.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement engaging instruction and lesson plans for children and young adults as provided by classroom teachers
• Provide supervision for classroom activities and effective and respectful classroom management, while promoting school expectations and values
• Participate in recess and lunch duty coverage as needed
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty and administrators regarding classroom activities

Strong candidates will have:

• A bachelor’s degree with experience working with school-age students; prior teaching or classroom experience is preferred, but not required
• A history of punctuality and adaptability, with a willingness to be flexible in activities and responsibilities
• Comfort with technology and an openness to utilize academic technology in the classroom (e.g. Google suite of tools)
• An understanding of the importance in building an inclusive environment and commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and experiences
• Knowledge of the developmental needs for elementary and middle school children
