Position Summary

The Sage School is seeking a dependable and hardworking Part-Time Seasonal Facilities Assistant to assist with campus improvement and maintenance projects during the summer and other school breaks. This position supports the Facilities Department in preparing classrooms, offices, and common spaces for the upcoming school year through furniture relocation, deep cleaning, painting, light maintenance, and other seasonal projects.

The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining attractive and functional spaces, and can work both independently and as part of a team to complete projects efficiently and safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom, office, and campus space turnover projects.
• Move, relocate, assemble, and arrange furniture, equipment, and supplies throughout campus.
• Perform deep cleaning of classrooms, offices, common areas, and other school facilities.
• Assist with interior and exterior painting projects, including surface preparation, painting, and cleanup.
• Support seasonal maintenance projects such as minor repairs, touch-up work, and facility improvements.
• Assist with organizing storage areas, inventories, and surplus materials.
• Remove and dispose of unwanted furniture, equipment, and materials in accordance with school procedures.
• Help prepare facilities for summer programs, special projects, and the start of the academic year.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and properly use tools, equipment, and cleaning supplies.
• Follow all workplace safety guidelines and school policies.
• Perform other facilities-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work safely and efficiently.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete projects on schedule.

Preferred

• Experience in facilities maintenance, custodial services, painting, construction, landscaping, or related trades.
• Experience operating basic hand and power tools.
• Familiarity with cleaning equipment and facility maintenance practices.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier items with assistance.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, ladders, and hand tools.

Schedule

• Seasonal position, approximately 20–30 hours per week.
• Typical schedule: Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility based on project needs.
• Employment period: Start date as soon as possible through mid-to-late August 2026, with potential availability for work over winter (December) and spring (March) breaks.

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $20-$25 per hour, commensurate with experience.
