Fourth Grade Teacher
St. Michael’s Country Day School – Newport, RI

St. Michael’s Country Day School is an independent school in Newport, RI serving students in toddler (2 year olds) through grade eight. St. Michael’s Country Day School exists to develop courageous learners and caring citizens who are world ready.

We are actively seeking an experienced and engaging Fourth Grade Teacher for potential openings in our Lower School. Candidates must have a strong understanding of the academic, social, and emotional needs of upper elementary students, and a passion for working with children at this important stage of development as they build independence, confidence, and deeper critical thinking skills.

The Fourth Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a supportive and dynamic classroom environment that fosters curiosity, collaboration, and a love of learning. This role includes planning and delivering instruction across core subject areas, differentiating to meet diverse learning needs, and partnering closely with colleagues and families to support each child’s growth.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

• an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team-based environment;
• strong verbal and written communication skills;
• an understanding of, appreciation for, and commitment to 21st century learning skills;
• an aptitude for and commitment to meaningful technology integration;
• the ability to differentiate instruction and support a range of learners;
• a warm, student-centered approach that supports both academic and social-emotional development.

Knowledge of the science of reading, Fundations, Responsive Classroom practices, project based learning, and Singapore math is preferred, as is a master’s degree.
