PT/FT Academic Support

The Academic Support team plays an important role in the academic experience of Derryfield
students by maintaining close communication with classroom teachers and advisors to identify
students needing academic support and to provide the instruction and support they need to be
successful.
Academic Support Teacher:
The Part Time Academic Support teacher will teach two sections of Academic Foundations in
the fall, followed by some combination of Academic Foundations and/or Academic Support
classes in the winter and spring terms, as determined by student sign ups. In addition to lesson
planning and teaching the course, there is some additional support needed beyond class time
for individual students. There are also regular meetings with the Academic Support team to
discuss and review the curriculum and the students and to collaborate on best practices.
The Full Time Academic Support teacher will teach two sections of Academic Foundations in
the fall, followed by some combination of Academic Foundations and/or Academic Support
classes in the winter and spring terms, as determined by student sign ups in the Upper School.
They will also proctor structure study halls in the Middle School and provide after school
“Academic Power” support to middle school students. In addition to lesson planning and
teaching the course, there is some additional support needed beyond class time for individual
students. There are also regular meetings with the Academic Support team to discuss and
review the curriculum and the students and to collaborate on best practices. A full time role also
includes 2 seasons of coaching or the equivalent.
Salary for this position will be competitive for similar positions for day schools in New England. For
