Job Title: Writing Coach

FLSA: Non-Exempt / Hourly
St. Mark’s school seeks a writing coach to support high school students two times per week during evening study hall. This is a temporary, part-time position.
Responsibilities:
Assist students by appointment during their evening study hours with every step of the writing process for their school assignments, from outlining to final drafts, with a focus on helping students develop the skills they need to be successful, independent writers
Reference writing guidelines provided by academic departments and the goals of each assignment
Record student attendance
Use study hall tracking/communication duty chat system
The ideal candidate will have:
Teaching or tutoring experience with high school students in a relevant subject area
Expertise in writing instruction and knowledge of a variety of effective strategies for writing
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to quickly build rapport with high school students
Willingness to learn about the St. Mark’s academic program and work within its mission
Ability to juggle helping several students at once
Familiarity with current research on learning and the brain, executive functioning, differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning, and learning differences
Facility with Google Docs
