Job Description:
Montrose School in Medfield, MA is looking for an after-school, private voice instructor for students in grades 6-12. Candidates should have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in either vocal performance or music education and be comfortable instructing students in classical, musical theater, or pop styles, depending on student goals and preference.
Private lessons will take place after school from 3:30-6:30 on campus, 2 days a week. The 2 days a week that these lessons will take place are able to be set by the instructor to accommodate their schedule. Each lesson will be 30 minutes in length.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Teach private voice lessons (30 minutes per session) to students in 6th-12th grade
- Build strong vocal technique and music literacy skills to students of various levels
- Tailor lessons to meet the needs of students with different goals and developmental levels
- Promote proper singing technique and habits
- Foster a supportive and positive learning environment
- Communicate with students and parents concerning progress, attendance, and schedule changes when necessary
- Collaborate with Auxiliary Programs Manager to confirm student enrollment and attendance
Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in music education or vocal performance
- A knowledge of vocal pedagogy for genres such as classical, pop, and musical theater
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Basic piano skills to be able to support students in learning music
