
MS/US Full-Time Science Teacher

Position Summary
Falmouth Academy seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic full-time Middle and Upper School Science Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025–2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in science and a demonstrated commitment to engaging and inspiring students in grades 7–12. We value individuals who bring passion for the scientific process, student-centered teaching practices, and a collaborative spirit to our educational community.
Faculty at Falmouth Academy are expected to contribute actively to the life of the school beyond the classroom and to support students academically, socially, and emotionally. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach middle and upper school science courses
- Develop course materials, including syllabi, assignments, lab activities, and assessments
- Assess and evaluate student work, including lab reports and science fair projects
- Design and revise curriculum content and instructional methods in alignment with departmental goals
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress
- Hold regular office hours to support and advise students
- Serve as a student advisor and actively participate in advisory programming
- Contribute to the school community by coaching an athletic team (e.g., soccer, basketball, cross country, tennis, or lacrosse) or leading an extracurricular equivalent
- Participate in professional development and school-wide evaluation efforts
- Attend and support occasional school events, including evening or weekend commitments
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field
- At least two years of classroom teaching experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Enthusiastic commitment to teaching and mentoring adolescents
- Demonstrated ability to create inclusive and engaging learning environments
- Flexibility to meet classroom, advisory, extracurricular, and community obligations
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in science or education
- Experience with interdisciplinary or project-based teaching
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to work on a computer and at a desk for extended periods
- May occasionally lift up to 15 pounds
- Work occurs primarily in a traditional classroom and office setting
- Must be able to navigate outdoor campus spaces in varying weather conditions
