Middle School Science Teacher – Family Leave Position

Dedham Country Day School, Dedham, MA

Dedham Country Day School (DCD) seeks a well-qualified middle school science teacher to join the robust faculty in our Pre-Kindergarten to grade 8 community for a family leave position during the 2024-25 academic year. The position is expected to run from early January 2025 through April 2025. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach four sections of middle school science to students in grades 6 and 7
  • Promote the social and emotional growth of students 
  • Collaborate with middle school faculty on curricular and cultural initiatives
  • Provide ongoing communication with parents and compose formal comments on each student at the conclusion of the winter term
  • Participate in the school community as a contributing member, through regular faculty/staff meetings and weekly coverage for recess and/or lunch duties

Strong candidates will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree with an advanced degree in science or education preferred 
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience in science
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for working with children
  • Experience building an inclusive environment and an awareness of anti-bias teaching practices
  • An openness to integrate academic technology into the classroom experience
  • A willingness to be part of a collaborative team
