Seeks Math Tutor

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 1 hour each morning

We are seeking a qualified math tutor to join our education team, with a focus on supporting an individual 5th-grade student. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of elementary math concepts and proven experience in helping students improve their skills and performance.

Our anti-bias curriculum is rooted in a developmental model of learning that engages children’s innate desire to observe, question, consider, and eventually think deeply about complex interpersonal and societal issues. In 2005, we received the Leading Edge Award for Equity and Justice from the National Association of Independent Schools, and we continue to learn and work against systems of injustice, including racism, by practicing behavior that demonstrates appreciation for multiple perspectives and engaging in conversations and actions that confront bias at all developmental levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one math tutoring focused on various 5th-grade topics.
• Identify and remediate skill gaps to help the student access the curriculum effectively.
• Develop personalized learning strategies and techniques to enhance the student’s understanding of the material.
• Use engaging methods to support the student’s development and mastery of math concepts in each unit.
• Foster a positive attitude toward learning and build the student’s confidence in their math abilities.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in tutoring elementary math, with a strong record of improving students’ grades and test scores.
• Familiarity with 5th-grade math topics and curriculum.
• Classroom teaching experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to provide personalized instruction and tailor learning strategies to meet individual student needs.
• Strong communication skills
