Position Summary
Bancroft School is seeking a passionate and skilled Lower School Spanish Teacher to teach students in grades 1-4, for the 2025-26 school year. This is a part-time position (approximately 15 hours per week) designed to introduce young learners to the Spanish language while fostering cultural awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Spanish to students in grades 1-4, creating an engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic age-appropriate curriculum, ideally using a Comprehensible Input (CI) approach to language instruction.
  • Foster students’ curiosity about different cultures and support their early language acquisition.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Spanish language learning into the broader Lower School curriculum.
  • Communicate regularly with families about students’ progress and classroom experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in Spanish (spoken and written); native speakers preferred but not required.
  • Teaching experience at the elementary level and a strong background in the Spanish language.
  • Passion for working with young children and making language learning engaging and accessible.
  • Ability to create and adapt curriculum that aligns with best practices in early language acquisition.
  • Strong flexibility, creativity, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is based on a variety of factors, including education, experience, skills, expertise, and internal equity.
