Long-Term Substitute – Speech and Debate Teacher

 

 

The Pike School in Andover, MA is seeking a Temporary Speech and Debate Teacher for grades 7 and 8 to join our team from January 7, 2025, to June 13,2025. This teacher will instruct seventh-grade Speech and eighth-grade Debate classes. This temporary position offers an opportunity to help students develop their public speaking and debate skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching or coaching middle school students while helping them become confident communicators and critical thinkers.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience teaching or coaching middle school students, preferably in speech and debate or a similar subject.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for public speaking, debate, and student development.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with various speech and debate formats (e.g., Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Original Oratory) is a plus.
  • Enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable teaching style.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Willingness to work in a temporary capacity with flexibility to adjust as needed.
