BUA Head Robotics Coach – Job Posting

Boston University Academy

Boston University Academy is seeking a dynamic individual with leadership and robotics experience to serve as a part-time Head Robotics Coach beginning September 1 2025. Primary responsibilities include supervising the First Robotics Competition team at BUA (Team 246: “The Lobstah Bots”) in their operations in collaboration with a team of undergraduate and graduate expert mentors who support the team and lead students in developing the skills and knowledge to design and build a successful robot while fostering a spirit of teambuilding and professionalism throughout the process. Duties include supervising lab hours, managing the mentor team, coordinating and attending robotics competitions as the team qualifies, managing budget and purchasing responsibilities, and communicating regularly with parents and BUA leadership. This is a part-time, year-round position that requires approximately 50 hours per month from September through April, with additional responsibilities during summer outreach events and championship competitions if the team qualifies. Applicants with FIRST experience preferred.

The BUA Robotics Program is a year-round program requiring coaching and mentor support for both Fall and Spring semesters. The hours and work requirements depend on the number of students, the number of mentors, and additional coaching support from existing BUA staff.

The Robotics Program runs in the Fall from September through December, and in the Spring from January through April. This position will require approximately 50 hours per month. Additional coaching needs are conditional on the team’s qualification for district or state championships, practice competitions and availability throughout the summer, and additional robotics demonstrations.
