About Nativity Prep:
Nativity Preparatory School New Bedford is an independent, tuition-free school for boys in grades 5-8 from households of limited financial means in the New Bedford area. Nativity Prep fosters the intellectual, moral, social, and athletic growth of its students, and nurtures in a small-school setting the full potential of their character. Nativity annually serves a diverse student body of approximately 60 boys.

Financial Management
- Record payroll and 401k account entries
- Serve as the organization’s point of contact for the annual audit
- Oversee donor management database effectively
- Record and track additions and releases of restricted revenue
- Work with the investment committee to create endowment policy, budget and compliance
- Prepare net asset roll forward schedule
- Review and prepare monthly accounts payable report
- Manage reconciliation of all financial accounts
- Manage cash flow
- Prepare and maintain fixed asset depreciation schedule
- Establish policies to ensure accurate and efficient accounting following GAAP
- Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and a thought partner for the financial health of the school
Budgeting / Reporting
- Prepare annual operating budget with the Head of School and Associate Head of School
- Prepare monthly budget updates and forecasts
- Provide timely reports to the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee
- Prepare quarterly reports: Profit & Loss / Budget updates, balance sheet, net asset roll forward schedule, and unrestricted net assets
Grant Management
- Manage financial operations for NP’s programs and fiscally sponsored projects, ensuring compliance with grants and donor requirements.
- Prepare and maintain grant calendar, budgets and financial reports for funders
- Develop strategies to improve cost efficiency and enhance funding stability including new funding sources
- Monitor the schools’ financial performance to ensure alignment with organizational missions and goals
Operations
- Oversee the Director of Facilities and the Director of IT
- Review and negotiate vendor contracts and establish bid procedures
- Work with Head of School to prioritize capital projects and larger maintenance needs
- Manage inventory of all assets
- Enhance cost efficiency of utilities, buildings and grounds
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Financial Engagement Experience required. Masters in Finance, MBA or CPA preferred.
- Proven track record of financial management, annual operating budgets, and / or operations
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives while anticipating potential issues and identifying practical solutions across departments at the school
- Proficiency with G-Suite, Excel, quickbooks and ability to learn, contract or create a new Fundraising management database
- Previous experience in a non-profit or independent school preferred
Compensation
- Nativity Prep offers a competitive salary and benefits package including: health, vision and dental insurance. 401k at a 3% match, and professional development opportunities.
- The initial annual salary range is between $70,000-$90,000 and is negotiable and based on work experience and background.
