The Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid is responsible for all activity in the Admission Office from the point of inquiry through matriculation and retention. Reporting directly to the Head of School and as a member of the Senior Administrative Team, the Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid represents the school and its mission to prospective families and the community. The Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the admission process in the School’s effort to enroll and retain a diverse and dynamic student body. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the program of admission of new students to the School, including all stages of the admission funnel, as well as assist with re-enrollment of current families
  • Through collaboration with other Administrators, develop a strategy to collect and analyze data, then implement this data to drive enrollment decisions
  • Through collaboration with other Administrators and the Marketing Committee of the Board of Trustees, create a strategic recruitment and marketing plan to reach target audiences, with a goal of maintaining sustainable and diverse enrollment. Ensure maximum diversity within enrollment, in keeping with the School’s mission
  • Develop admission and marketing materials: admission information, application documents, the CFS website, social media, and print advertisements. Accurately represent CFS to internal and external constituents through these media
  • Professionally and efficiently represent all aspects of the School to prospective families and outside organizations. Train admission staff, faculty, and volunteers to accurately represent CFS both internally and externally to ensure consistency of message
  • Recruit and manage a network of volunteers: parents, former parents, alumni, students, faculty, and staff, etc., to assist in admission and outreach efforts
  • Design, organize, and oversee admission and community events including: open houses, visit days, school fairs, community outreach, yield events, retention events, and new family events
  • Ensure efficient handling of admission process: inquiry processing, family outreach, communication with candidates, processing of application materials, communication of decisions on enrollment and financial aid, and enrollment and placement
  • Chair the Admission Decision Committees. Recruit and train committee members from the faculty 
  • Organize, manage, and administer the financial aid program for the School, in collaboration with the Financial Aid Committee and the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees, leveraging financial aid to help students overcome economic and cultural barriers in order to create a diverse student community
  • Chair the Retention Committee. Serve as the point person for developing strategies to retain current families and communicate with community members to increase student and family retention
  • Provide timely and comprehensive oral and written reports to all constituents, as necessary. Report regularly to the Head of School, Administrative Team, and the Board of Trustees with admission statistics updates and enrollment management information
  • Manage the Admission Office staff, including the Admission Assistant
  • Manage the admission budget

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in an independent school admission office
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with the Enrollment Management Spectrum
  • Familiarity with financial aid policies and procedures. Experience with Clarity preferred
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud’s onBoard Enrollment Management system
  • Ability to prioritize and organize projects and manage an admission team of full-time and part-time staff, and volunteers
  • A demonstrated ability to use new technology to communicate and market the school’s brand and mission
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and willing to work beyond traditional office hours, including evenings and weekends
  • A knowledge and understanding of current admission trends, demographics, and diversity recruitment and retention models
