Position Overview
Kents Hill School is seeking a creative, resourceful, and motivated Director of Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, and Events to advance the organization’s ambitious goals by owning the Kents Hill (Annual) Fund, engaging a vibrant global alumni community, and delivering high-impact events and experiences. They will gain a comprehensive understanding of the priorities of Kents Hill and serve as an energetic, engaging, and knowledgeable representative of the organization. This is a 12-month, exempt, full time, on campus position that reports to the Chief Advancement Officer.
Annual Fund
- Own a comprehensive annual giving program (Kents Hill Fund) that will reach new heights in annual philanthropic support for Kents Hill School.
- Own the end-to-end fundraising (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship) for a portfolio of assigned prospects and donors.
- Meet quarterly fundraising benchmarks and goals, communicating progress to advancement leadership as appropriate.
- Design and execute an annual engagement strategy to reach fundraising goals that includes: in-person and virtual engagement, direct mail, and digital outreach.
- Partner with the Director of Marketing and Advertising to plan and execute larger communications and engagement campaigns for key initiatives, including but not limited to Giving Days, Reunion/Homecoming, etc.
- Track and report relationship management activity using Raiser’s Edge and collaborate regularly with advancement staff to ensure that constituent data is up-to-date and accurate.
Alumni Relations
- Design and execute strategies and communications (newsletter, social media, etc.) to engage Kents Hill’s diverse alumni community in programs, activities, events, and on-campus happenings that align with strategic goals and priorities.
- Identify and engage alumni volunteers focused on enhancing revenue, participation, and engagement through giving and events.
- Develop relationships with current students as the start of a lifelong philanthropic relationship with Kents Hill School.
Events
- Conceptualize and execute a number of high-impact events (on and off campus) that align with the goals of Kents Hill School. Major annual events include the Opening of School, Fall Family Weekend, Reunion/Homecoming, and Graduation.
- Develop a project plan for each event that includes objectives, audience, timeline, deliverables, schedule, and budget.
- In collaboration with campus stakeholders, manage the day-to-day scheduling and planning of these events, including booking, contracting, set-ups, and the day-of management.
- Coordinate event promotion and marketing with the Director of Marketing and Advertising.
- Partner with the Chief of Staff to maximize the Head of School’s event visibility and engagement to maximize philanthropic support.
Qualifications
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to communicate across multiple internal and external constituencies with poise and confidence.
- Strong Relationship-Building Skills: A keen interest in understanding the motivations, capabilities, and backgrounds of prospects and donors to support Kents Hill’s annual and other giving goals.
- Superior Effective Project and Task Management: Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, contributing to a culture of transparency and teamwork.
- Discretion and Confidentiality: Comfort with handling sensitive information in a professional and ethical manner.
