Job Summary: 

BB&N is seeking a driven and dedicated Certified Athletic Trainer with a minimum of 2 years of experience who will be invested in the health and well-being of our student athletes, grades 6-12.  The Certified Athletic Trainer position works for the duration of the academic year (10 months.   In coordination with the athletic training staff,  this position is responsible for all aspects of athletic training responsibilities and duties in a vibrant, expansive, and inclusive athletics and wellness programs.

The Athletic Trainer will work with the Athletic Training department and a team of healthcare professionals (nurses, physical therapists, MD’s, and others) to evaluate and/or refer injuries or conditions and coordinate guidelines for progress and return to health.  Additional responsibilities may include instruction in our wellness curriculum as well as other administrative duties defined by the Head Athletic Trainer and athletic administration.

Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate is approachable, knowledgeable, and eager to be an active member of a dynamic athletic and learning community. Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) is required.  CPR/AED certification is required.  A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Athletic Training; licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Athletic Training and at least 2 years of experience, preferably in a secondary school are required.

In addition, the Athletic Trainer will demonstrate the following competencies  In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of theory and practice of athletic training and related policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Excellent oral and written communication.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of people, including students, parents, faculty, staff, and visiting teams.

  • Fulfill duties and athletic coverage as defined by the athletic administration and Head Athletic Trainer, including but not limited to:

    • Game and practice coverage, injury prevention and evaluation, communication to campus nurses, coaches, parents and faculty; coordination and implementation of rehabilitation programs and return to play protocols.

    • Assist Head Athletic Trainer with CPR/AED certification of coaches, sports clearance tracking and baseline Impact test administration seasonally.

    • Flexibility to work long hours including weekends, evenings, and possibly early mornings-during busy seasons.

    • Contribution to the team effort including assistance with other duties and functions defined by athletic administration.

Salary: $64,000.00 – $70,000.00

Compensation for full-time employees includes a 403(b) plan with up to a 10% match of salary and other competitive benefits offerings. Benefits offered to eligible employees include health & dental insurance; commuter benefits; long-term disability insurance, and more.
