Position Summary
Reporting to the Athletic Director, Bancroft School seeks an Athletic Trainer, beginning in August of 2025, to organize and maintain the athletic training facility, provide a wide range of prevention and treatment services for student-athlete injuries, rehabilitation, evaluation, reconditioning, education, and guidance; and perform related work as required. This is a school year position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Athletic Trainer will practice within the parameters of the state of Massachusetts Athletic Trainers Licensing Law, and will follow both the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association. The duties of this position are based on the needs of the school and its athletic program and include:
- Provide athletic training coverage at all home athletic contests and practices, and attend other post-season and home-hosted contests as directed by the Director of Athletics
- Establish an effective athletic training program for high school and middle school athletics
- Provide injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation for Bancroft School student-athletes, as well as athletes from visiting schools
- Coordinate the review of annual required athletic physicals to ensure that all student-athletes have a current and valid physical
- Supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during the sports seasons
- Manage all rehabilitation and treatment programs and methods for injured student-athletes
- Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room
- Maintain communication with parents/guardians regarding injury status and the care/treatment of their student-athlete
- Maintain communication with the appropriate division head, Dean of Students, and School Nurse regarding injury status and care of all athletes
- Evaluate athletes’ readiness to play, and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted.
- File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
- Maintain a daily treatment log
- Responsible for concussion assessment, return to play planning, and ImPACT testing
- Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up-to-date inventory. Provide the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment.
- Equip each team with appropriate first aid supplies for away contests
- Create a safe playing environment by monitoring field conditions, heat index, and weather-related risk and informing the Director of Athletics
- Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and provide forms as appropriate
- Responsible for following all HIPAA regulations and guidelines
- Serve as an Assistant Director of Athletics and provide administrative support to the Director of Athletics as needed and assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Certifications Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred
- National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification
- Massachusetts Athletic Training License
- Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CPR/ First Aid/AED certification
