Summary
Nashoba Brooks School seeks an Associate Preschool Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The associate preschool teacher is a full-time position in our multi-aged Preschool and Afterschool programs. The associate preschool teacher supports the morning preschool program by partnering with a lead teacher in a classroom. During the afternoon, the associate preschool teacher supports the extended day program. Teachers at Nashoba Brooks model the mission of the School and create student-centered, mission-driven learning environments for students.
Responsibilities
The associate preschool teacher is responsible for:
- Working closely with teaching and administrative employees to support the educational, social and emotional development of students.
- Collaborating with teaching team members and the student support team to identify and support student learning needs.
- Modeling excellent problem solving and project management skills with a commitment to viewing challenges as problems that can be solved rather than obstacles that cannot be overcome.
- Supporting effective communication and collaboration within the Lower School team.
- Supporting student safety through a demonstrated commitment to emergency response training and the ability to lift and transport small children as needed.
- Collaborative planning for and facilitation of Extended Day Preschool from 12:00-4:00 p.m.
- Implementing lesson plans and assisting in developing activities that promote collaborative and integrated learning through play.
- Creating routines that recognize the importance of outdoor play.
- Assisting in maintaining observational records for each child.
- Communicating effectively with parents through informal daily interactions, email, telephone and periodic written reports.
- Actively pursuing and integrating relevant professional development opportunities.
- Supporting the School community and culture through additional duties such as student supervision, attending community events, etc.
- Engaging effectively in a dynamic learning environment by demonstrating flexibility and the willingness to contribute to the broader community.
Skills
Strong candidates will demonstrate:
- Knowledge in teaching early childhood education.
- Identify and effectively address issues pertaining to students in Preschool through Grade 3, their learning and their development.
- Implement lesson plans and assist in developing activities that promote collaborative and integrated learning through play.
- Possess the ability to lift and transport small children as needed, including in urgent situations.
- Engage effectively in a dynamic learning environment by demonstrating flexibility and the willingness to contribute to the broader community.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write detailed comments on students’ progress reports, and the ability to communicate directly, effectively, respectfully and constructively with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Commitment to open and effective communication.
- Effective differentiation of curriculum and instruction to teach students with diverse learning profiles.
- A passion for teaching young children, as well as an understanding of the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of three, four, and five year-olds.
- Proactive teacher-parent interaction and communication.
- Proficiency with technology and technology integration to support learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in early childhood education required.
- Minimum of three years of experience in early childhood teaching preferred.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
