Job Summary: 

BB&N is seeking an Assistant Transportation Coordinator to support the Transportation Coordinator for a portion of the academic week.  BB&N’s Transportation program encompasses:

  • 8 daily morning and 7 afternoon transportation routes to Cambridge, Boston, and the suburbs

  • Daily transportation of students from the Middle and Lower School campuses to athletic facilities at the Upper School, BB&N’s Grove Street Athletic Facility, and rented athletic locations

  • Transportation for field trips and miscellaneous student programs

  • Daily shuttles from major transportation hubs (ie. the Harvard Square T)

  • Transportation to Athletic games

  • Transportation support for events where remote parking is necessary

The Assistant Transportation Coordinator is a highly visible and critically important staff position at BB&N. The Assistant Transportation Coordinator must possess detailed knowledge of school bus operating policies, as dictated by Massachusetts Laws and Regulations and Federal traffic laws, including the Registry of Motor Vehicles, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, School Committee, and local authorities. Highly developed interpersonal skills are essential for the Assistant Transportation Coordinator to interact with the diverse community of Faculty, Staff, Students, Parents, and Visitors to BB&N.  A key requirement of this position is flexibility in the person’s ability to cover for the Transportation Coordinator in late afternoons, evenings, and weekends, as needed.

Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate should have 4+ years of transportation experience with strong communication skills and demonstrate the ability to:

  • be over 21 years of age

  • possess a valid Massachusetts State driver’s license for at least three (3) consecutive years and a minimum of two (2) years of professional driving experience in good standing.

  • possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with both Passenger and School Bus endorsements

  • possess a valid school bus license and all required documentation to drive a yellow school bus

  • possess a valid DOT medical card and a current First Aid/CPR certification

  • have a School Bus Certification or Permit

  • have good communication skills; able to converse in English with children, parents, and staff

  • possess good judgment, attendance, and reliability

  • undergo a successful background check (CORI & SORI)

  • available to be on campus on short notice, for emergencies and other unforeseen facility needs.

  • be flexible to work overtime, including weekends and evenings, to support school events

Compensation: $34.00 – $35.00 per hour
