Assistant Director, Admissions/Varsity Ice Hockey Coach

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a dynamic and motivated individual to ­­­­­identify, recruit, and enroll qualified prospective students and families in accordance with the NMH mission.  Each Assistant Director will be responsible for a specific geographic area. Territory responsibilities include travel, phone communication, interviewing, and other responsibilities as assigned. Unique to the admission program responsibilities, the Assistant Director will be responsible for an applicant review committee as well as residential duty.

The successful applicant will have a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years related experience; outstanding organizational, written, communication, and interpersonal skills preferred.  The ability to travel frequently is required. Candidates must have the ability to process and hold confidential information and exercise independent judgment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and other web-based software is desired.  Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, being a self-starter capable of working independently, and the ability to lead the Girls Varsity Ice Hockey team at NMH.  Ability to work flexible hours and be on call during interim periods, some night and evening work.

The candidate will be responsible for leading all recruitment efforts of prospective student-athletes as well as supporting current students throughout the college process. Additional qualifications include strong listening skills, highly developed interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Candidates are expected to have experience in equity and inclusion work that can support a diverse community in a boarding school environment. They should also have a demonstrated interest in making a positive impact on the lives of adolescents.

Another key responsibility will be coaching and recruiting for the girl’s ice hockey team. Preferred candidates will bring a rich background in ice hockey, ideally with experience in coaching and playing at secondary or collegiate levels. The coach will play a crucial role in recruiting and developing players who are not only eager to compete at the highest levels of hockey but are also committed to leveraging a first-class educational experience. The coach will have an opportunity to lead a team of dedicated students and make a significant impact in their athletic and academic lives.
