The Admissions Assistant reports to the Director of Admission and High School Placement and assists in the operations of all admissions and high school placement processes. This includes performing a wide variety of clerical and administrative tasks for the office and planning and attending admissions and high school placement events on and off campus.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assists in a wide range of administrative functions within the admissions office including routine operations, special projects and events.
  • Assists in managing the application processes for Community Prep admissions and high school placement from beginning to end, including counseling students/families and communicating high school admission decisions.
  • Assists with planning and executing admissions events such as open houses, informational sessions, high school fairs, high school visits, etc.
  • Travels as needed to attend events represent the school Community Prep.
  • Coordinates, initiates, prepares, processes, and monitors various administrative/operations forms, records, schedules, and other documents, ensuring timely and accurate completion of documents.
  • Assists in various financial aid functions including hosting a financial aid night for families who are in the high school placement process.
  • Meets regularly with the Director of Admissions, other departments, high school personnel, and other individuals/organizations to plan and coordinate activities and exchange information.
  • Stays updated on best practices in high school admissions functions.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree or be enrolled in a higher education degree program.
  • A wide range of clerical and office management knowledge and skills.
  • One to two years of relevant clerical and administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Knowledge of admissions and financial aid processes. 
  • Experience organizing and maintaining data in complex records systems.
  • Previous experience with technology and information systems such as Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, and Google Docs.
  • Good reading, writing and math skills. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Self-motivated and the ability to manage responsibilities independently.
  • Highly organized with an eye for detail.
