Accountant and Business Office Associate

Position Summary: 

The Accountant and Business Office Associate is a full year role reporting to the Controller and supports the daily operations of the Business Office that include financial and administrative duties. The candidate for this role may have flexibility of hours with the standard business week and work between 30-40 hours per week.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Financial
    • Accounts receivable – manage student billing and receivables.
    • Manage school’s credit card accounts, usage and reconciliation.
    • Process incoming payments (checks, wires, electronic transfers).
    • Assist with year-end closing procedures and audits.
    • Assist with the preparation of tax and other regulatory filings.
    • Journal entries and account reconciliations.
    • Generate financial reports and maintain accurate financial records using accounting software Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT.
  • Administrative
    • Provide general operational support to the faculty and staff.
    • Assist with general business office operations.
  • Other support to CFO, Controller as needed.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with parents, faculty and staff.

  

Qualifications & Skills:

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an accounting or financial role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, multilingual is a plus.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solve.
  • Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and customer service oriented.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment, as our staff, student body and their families come from multiple countries and cultures.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, including Excel, software proficiency and data analysis are necessary.
