About Tilton School
Tilton School, a hidden gem of an independent coeducational boarding & day school in the Lakes Region of central New Hampshire, serves over 200 students of all genders in grades 9-12/PG, from over 20 states and 15 countries, with 75% boarding and 25% day students. We are located in the historic town of Tilton, just across the Winnipesaukee River, 90 minutes from
Boston and 15 minutes to the bustling capital city of Concord, New Hampshire. The Lakes Region is one of the preeminent vacation destinations on the Eastern seaboard, easily accessed by nearby interstate highways and Manchester (NH) Airport, only 30 minutes to the south.

Tilton School Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach Summary
At Tilton School, we are a community in pursuit of knowing, supporting, and challenging each other as we learn to do hard things well. Our faculty design learning experiences — across all areas of school life — that build the essential skills and sensibilities our students will need to be life-ready, at college and beyond.
A varsity head coach will have extensive knowledge of their sport and experience playing and/or coaching at the secondary or collegiate level and be familiar with and comply with the philosophy and policies of Tilton School, the Lakes Region League, and NEPSAC. Head coaches have responsibility for all aspects of their program including recruiting. developing, mentoring, and retaining athletes. Head coaches manage assistant coaches, to whom they may delegate authority, although ultimate responsibility for the program resides with them. The Boys Varsity Head Coach will maintain and continue to grow the already rich tradition of boys basketball here at Tilton. The current team is poised for future success with a roster of talented young, underclass student-athletes.
Responsibilities and Agreements will include:
● Demonstrating an ability and willingness to communicate clearly, firmly, empathetically, and confidently with young adults
● Regular effective on/off court basketball practice planning that:
○ Promotes physical, mental, and emotional development of student-athletes
○ Prepares student-athletes for the short- and long-term goals of an ensuing season
○ Models efficient use of time for individual and team development
● Cultivating and sustaining a rapport with student-athletes and their families
● Willingness to have honest, productive, and necessary conversations with student-athletes
● Promoting the basketball program to potential student-athletes as part of the recruiting and application process in collaboration with our Admission Office, including:
○ Screening student-athletes not only as basketball players but as citizens within a larger learning community
○ Initiating contact with potential candidates
○ Attending seasonal tournaments, showcases, and practices to identify and recruit potential candidates
○ Building and expanding a regional and national network of professionals in the Basketball world at the club, secondary, and collegiate levels
● Being a role model:
○ On and off the court, in demeanor, presentation, and communication
○ Bring outside, real-world, and relevant resources to aid in the development of student-athletes
● Promoting and advocating for student-athletes in the college admissions landscape
● Partnering well with other adults in the community, including assistant coaches, sub-varsity coaches, athletic department members, school administrative team members

Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and interest in working with teenagers

Full-Time School Year Candidates: Candidates applying for the position as part of a teaching or administrative vacancy should be prepared to also take on other school-wide. As a residential school, Tilton considers the work of faculty broadly, and we engage with students both during and beyond the academic day. Full-time faculty at Tilton can expect to contribute two seasons in
the co-curricular and/or athletic program, serve as a student advisor, and to be responsible for weekly evening and monthly weekend supervisory duties.
