Position Summary

The Tabor Academy Fellowship Program offers a unique and transformative opportunity for recent college graduates to begin their professional careers in independent boarding school education. This program is designed to provide Fellows with immersive experiences in teaching, coaching, residential life, and advising within a vibrant and supportive school community. With structured mentorship and guided professional development, the Fellowship Program nurtures the next generation of educators and leaders in independent schools.

Tabor Academy is seeking a compelling and passionate Mathematics & Computer Science Teaching Fellow for the 2025-2026 academic year to teach two sections of math in the Mathematics & Computer Science Department, to serve as dorm parent with related evening duties, and to coach for two to three seasons in the afternoon program.  The fellow position will include workshops, seminars, and opportunities to observe experienced educators and administrators, fostering a reflective and deliberate approach to professional growth. Fellows will also benefit from partnerships, which will provide access to online professional development courses, in coordination with Tabor leadership, on pedagogical and administrative topics.  The fellow will then work with program leaders to incorporate the coursework into their actual daily work in school life. This is full-time exempt faculty position for a one-year term, with an option for reappointment for a second year based on performance and mutual agreement. Housing may be included in the compensation package.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan lessons, teach, evaluate, and provide feedback to students for mastery in Mathematics
  • Engage in the school’s athletic afternoon program as an assistant coach helping to build relationships with students outside of the classroom (in particular we have a current need for rowing and squash coaches)
  • Possess a high degree of cultural competency and demonstrated experience or interest in working with diverse populations and perspectives
  • Convey patience and empathy with adolescents
  • Be self-reflective, be able to work independently, and be committed to professional growth
  • Contribute to the well-being and growth of students by serving as a dormitory associate and participate in evening and weekend supervision
  • Attend regular feedback and goal-setting sessions to help track progress and identify areas of growth and development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related subject field required
  • Ideal candidates will have: excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, creativity, and passion for mathematics, model high standards of professionalism, desire to work in a multicultural community, and a willingness to enthusiastically engage in all aspects of boarding school life
