Assistant Director, Family Giving

The Office of Academy Resources (OAR) is seeking an Assistant Director of Family Giving.   This position reports to the Director of Family Giving, and working in collaboration with the Associate Director, helps develop communications marketing strategies for Andover Fund appeals and engagement programs. The Assistant Director is responsible for the team’s event management, on and off campus; and manages a committee of outreach volunteers. The assistant director is responsible for a parent portfolio for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual fund gifts, impacting parent participation and leadership annual support. The Assistant Director also provides data analysis and works in collaboration with the full development team and OAR to optimize a cohesive family giving and engagement strategy and programs to meet dollar and participation goals, while strengthening community among all PA families.

This is a hybrid position – 3 days in office, 2 days remote

Specific Responsibilities Include:

• Working with the Associate Director and Advancement Communications team, assists in the development of the annual marketing and communications strategy, manages the production and distribution of annual fund solicitations and mailings. Partners with the Associate Director and Annual Giving to strategize, set plans, and implement PA Giving Day for parent constituencies.
• Partners with colleagues on the team and in the Office of Alumni Engagement to plan and manage successful cultivation and recognition programs which help to grow the Andover Fund and overall family giving progress; expand a sense of connectedness for all families with the Academy and among each other; and support the Academy’s commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Manages the volunteer outreach and welcome receptions.
• Supports the Associate Director in the Family Giving program’s volunteer management, Andover Fund Parents Committee communications, assignments, and engagement programs.
• Assists the Director in the Parent Advancement Council program including targeted engagement programs and communications.
• Partners with major gifts, international advancement, annual giving, and advancement initiatives and museums to provide communications for thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for parents, including alumni current parents.
• Manages a portfolio of parent and grandparent prospects, in the broader New England region, for solicitation of leadership annual fund gifts.
• Participates in all on-campus family events and travels as needed for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship visits, meetings, and events.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position requires fundraising experience broadly, volunteer management background, and proven success in a fundraising program or program with transferable skill sets and project management components.
  • Bachelor’s degree, 3-5 years of experience working in a fast-paced institution/professional setting, preferably academic.
  • Experience in nonprofit/education fundraising preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some work during evenings and weekends is expected to carry out on-and-off campus engagement events and to meet parent fundraising goals.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Professional and basic computer skills, database management experience, and facility to learn new systems and approaches.
