Middle School Science Teacher- January to late May

Thayer Academy, Braintree, MA

Thayer Academy is seeking an experienced, passionate, and team-oriented full-time teacher of Science to provide coverage for long term family leave, roughly from January to late May. This position reports to the Middle School Director.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Teach 6th, and 7th,Grade Science
  • Serve as an advisor to 7th Graders
  • Apply practices in the classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging among Thayer Academy community members
  • Engage in ongoing professional development

 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree required, Masters (or higher) preferred in Education or Science or related field
  • 3+ years of teaching experience at the Middle School or Secondary School level preferred
  • Physical Science knowledge and experience
  • Passion for working with adolescents and desire to build relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, in curriculum, and in relationships with members of the school community
  • High level of comfort and experience with technology in an educational setting
  • Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and families
