An independent school for girls in grades 6-12, guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church, Montrose School was founded in 1979 and is located in the welcoming community of Medfield, 17 miles southwest of Boston. Montrose School attracts a talented and growing student population from 50 towns and communities.

 

Montrose seeks a full-time, twelve-month Marketing & Communications Assistant beginning immediately. The Marketing & Communications Assistant will support the Director of Marketing & Communications in the planning, execution and management of a communications plan and strategic events calendar, as well as in supporting the marketing and communications needs of the school. The Assistant will be required to provide back-up coverage for the Reception Desk on occasion.

The salary range for this position is $42,000 – $52,000 depending on experience.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Drafts, edits and proofreads content such as emails, letters, magazine articles, stories, and press releases, coordinating as needed with other departments to prepare content, resolve questions and close loops. 
  • Manages day to day communications and maintains and executes a strategic communications calendar (e.g. Next Week at Montrose, News from North Street, other newsletters, event invitations and programs)
  • Assists with communicating with students, faculty, parents and others via best channels: website, email, bulletin boards, school TVs, daily bulletin, intercom announcements, faculty/staff meetings/workshops
  • Assists team with coordinating and scheduling with outside vendors for printing, photo/video shoots, etc. 
  • Maintains archives of press hits and print and electronic communications materials
  • Assists the Digital Marketing Associate with design work; works with designers on the creation of print and electronic materials and ensuring compliance with brand standards
  • Creates and sends branded emails, tracks open and click rates, responds to unsubscribes, review recipient lists to ensure messages are being received and opened
  • Maintains website updates and manages content
  • Maintains and manages databases in both Constant Contact and Veracross (upcoming transition)
  • Provides logistical and administrative support in the planning and execution of school events 
  • Owns and manages projects as directed by the Director of Marketing & Communications, including creating backdown schedules, scheduling planning meetings and providing regular updates 
  • Maintains inventory of key print and office supplies for the department
  • Organizes electronic inventory of photographs and video assets to curate resources for various projects 
  • Provides general administrative and clerical support including filing, printing name tags and labels, posting signage, assembling programs, and support for large mailings: managing mail merges, copying, folding and stuffing envelopes
  • When providing backup coverage for the Front Desk, performs general reception office duties including answering phones, greeting and checking in visitors, and sorting and handling mail. 

A compelling candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. 
  • 1-3 years experience in marketing, communications or educational administration preferred. 
  • Superior organizational and time management skills and strong attention to detail. 
  • Experience in all Google Suite applications; proficiency with other technology tools including student information systems a plus
  • Exemplary communication skills
  • Strong writing skills and ability to proofread
  • Proficiency in managing social media content across Meta, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn.
  • Experience with graphic design tools a plus (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.), or a willingness and desire to learn.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a desire to collaborate with colleagues across the institution
  • Self-starter with exceptional communication and problem solving skills. Sees a challenge as an opportunity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while keeping supervisors appropriately informed
