Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age and have at least one year of college experience  OR one year of work experience after high school 
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience working in a camp or school setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults
  • Ability to develop and implement activities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Available to attend a three-day training session June 18-June 20th
  • Available 8:30-4:30, Monday-Friday, June 24th-August 16th 
    • At least a 4-week commitment is preferred
  • Energetic and positive attitude
  • Likes fun!

Responsibilities:

  • STEAM Teacher: Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate STEAM or Maker Space activities and projects for campers.
  • Instruction in STEAM Concepts: Teach campers fundamental concepts in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through hands-on activities and projects.
  • Facilitate Maker Space Activities: Guide campers through the use of various tools and equipment in the Maker Space
  • Safety Training: Ensure that campers understand and follow safety procedures when using tools and equipment in the Maker Space, and supervise activities to prevent accidents.
  • Project Planning and Design: Assist campers in brainstorming, planning, and designing their STEAM projects, encouraging creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical support and assistance to campers as they work on their projects, troubleshooting issues and offering guidance when needed.
  • Encourage Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where campers can work together, share ideas, and learn from each other’s experiences.
  • Promote Critical Thinking: Challenge campers to think critically and analytically as they tackle STEAM projects, encouraging them to experiment and explore different solutions.
  • Art Integration: Incorporate artistic elements into STEAM projects to encourage creativity and self-expression, such as through design, color theory, and aesthetics.
  • Environmental Awareness: Integrate lessons on sustainability and environmental responsibility into STEAM activities, promoting awareness of the impact of technology and innovation on the planet.
  • Cleanup and Organization: Oversee cleanup of the woodworking area at the end of each session, ensuring tools are properly stored and the workspace is tidy.

Job Requirements:

Must be physically able to perform all Passport Summer Camp duties.  The physical activity of this position includes:

  • Walking
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Standing and sitting on the floor
  • Tolerating various temperature ranges
