We are on the lookout for an experienced, adaptable, and approachable performing arts teacher to become an integral part of our PK-8 school community. As a performing arts teacher, you will play a pivotal role in fostering creativity and self-expression among students. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing engaging lesson plans that cover various aspects of performing arts, such as drama, dance, and music. You will guide students in developing their skills, confidence, and understanding of the performing arts, while also encouraging collaboration and teamwork. Our arts program begins with our youngest students and grows into opportunities to compete in play festivals and perform the Upper School Musical. 

By joining our faculty, you will play a vital role in shaping a dynamic learning experience for students in the Lower School (PK-4) and Upper School (5-8). Through interactive classroom sessions, small group instruction, and engaging performance learning opportunities, you will inspire creativity and self-expression in our students. In the Upper School, your role will involve guiding students through a comprehensive exploration of performing arts, encompassing drama and movement, and fostering an understanding of the interconnectedness of artistic expression. Our interdisciplinary program ensures that performing arts remain relevant, updated, and tightly connected with other subjects, providing students with a well-rounded education that celebrates their unique interests and passions.

The Sage School is a Pre-K through Grade 8 school enrolling 160 students in Foxboro, MA.  Responsibilities will include

  • Teach sections of early childhood through 8th grade performing arts
  • Communicate in a timely and professional manner with all community stakeholders, including parents
  • Knowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learning approach; hands-on approach to teaching and learning that is engaging for all students
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop interdisciplinary projects and integrate arts concepts across the curriculum.
  • Actively participate in the development of the arts and humanities department curriculum and co-curriculum 
  • Maintain an active presence and participate fully in campus life by attending school events and activities when possible.
  • Assume additional responsibilities (e.g., serving on committees and advising clubs) in other areas of school life 
  • Stay current with the latest developments and research in arts education by attending professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop interdisciplinary projects and integrate humanities concepts across the curriculum

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in drama, theater, performance studies, and/or related arts field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Prior experience teaching performing arts to students across a variety of ages
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based learning and hands-on, experiential teaching methods
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing
  • A positive attitude, a flexible approach, and a sense of humor
