Music Instructor – Community Academy

Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Natick, MA

The Walnut Hill Community Academy is currently seeking part-time instructors to teach private lessons in an encouraging, fun, and focused environment. There are multiple positions available for instructors to teach Voice, Guitar, and/or Piano. Instructors who can provide lessons for various other instruments are welcome to apply.

Skills & Requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of music concepts and ability to effectively communicate those concepts to students;
  • Advanced understanding of music theory and technique relevant to primary instrument;
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to keep students on task;
  • Experience teaching youth and/or beginning musicians;
  • Ability to interact effectively with children and adults;
  • Voice instructors must be well-versed in the specific skills required for singing various music styles healthily and authentically;
  • Possess appropriate piano skills to support vocalizing and repertoire learning;
  • Ability to teach via online platforms if necessary; and
  • Ability to teach students ranging in experience from beginner to advanced with equity – a student of any level should expect to grow and improve with this instruction.

The Walnut Hill Community Academy offers the opportunity to work a flexible, part-time schedule. We handle the marketing, scheduling, booking, billing and other business aspects of the lessons and group classes so that you can focus on teaching.
